We Make Games
With Intelligent NPCs

We’re building our first game, Bloodwood Hollow, using Intelligent NPCs. These NPCs will dynamically respond to the player through conversation as well as behavior. This gives players a true sense of agency in a world they can impact for better or worse.

NPC Intelligence Engine

Our proprietary NPC Intelligence Engine enables players to talk to NPCs using their microphone. NPCs can respond and make decisions based on these conversations both with the player and each other.

This allows for gameplay opportunities that could never be achieved before. Use persuasion to enlist the help of others; interrogate characters accused of crimes; convince others to help you achieve your goals or to help others in theirs.

The people building Bloodwood Hollow and StorytellerAI. Every character in the game passes through all of us — code, art, story, and sound — before it ever speaks to you.

My Great-Grandmom bought a Nintendo and told my Grandpop to get one. He played it and told my Mom to get one. She did. Now I make video games.

Every moment in games or cinema that you’ve ever truly felt is because of the sound and music. I like to make noise and occasionally musical noise.

A small studio outside Philadelphia

We are an independent team working out of the Philadelphia suburbs. Small enough that everyone here has their hands directly on the game.

NAME

Why “Entity Games Lab”

The lab is the experimental streak — we would rather attempt the thing that might not work. The entity is what we are after: something that outgrows the lab it was built in and takes on a life of its own once it is out.

POLICY

How we use AI

Intelligent NPCs mean AI is part of the game itself, so we would rather be direct about it. Where we use it, where we do not, and what that means for the people who make our games.
