How We Use AI

In Bloodwood Hollow, the characters you meet are listening. What you say has consequences. The characters take in what you say, reason, remember, and act on their own goals. There is no way to build this with hand-scripted dialogue trees. It works because AI drives the conversation and the behavior underneath.

Our system for this is StorytellerAI, and it runs three things: the dialogue the characters speak, the text-to-speech that gives them their voices, and the behavior that decides what they do next. When a character decides how to respond to you, that is StorytellerAI at work, not a pre-created reaction we wrote in advance.

Beyond the gameplay, Entity Games Lab also uses AI as a development tool. Large language models (LLMs) help us with code, web development, backend systems, and early prototype and concept work, letting a team our size build games that would otherwise be out of reach. The AI you encounter is specific: all NPC dialogue and audio is generated in real time by LLMs and other machine learning (ML) systems, while the characters' underlying behavior runs on our own in-house systems rather than ML.

This game is made by human creators. The only AI-generated assets you'll encounter are the real-time dialogue and audio, plus some early UI elements. AI is a tool that supports our work, not a substitute for our creativity or expertise.

We can't wait for you to see what we've been creating!
